Paris Hilton received a very cold welcome as she arrived in Vienna yesterday to attend a high profile, prestigious Opera Ball. Paris and her Opera Ball partner Richard Lugner, were pelted by cigarette packs, tissues and lipsticks as they were signing autographs.
The 25-year-old socialite was greeted by hundreds of fans as she entered an Austrian mall, however, the event turned sour, as the crowd became rowdy and pelted her with trash.

Paris greeted her fans, not expecting such a disastrous welcome. Miss Hilton was whisked away by security guards as the situation went beyond control. Richard Lugner, who is Hilton’s Vienna host, is a 74-year-old married powerful businessman invites a celebrity to the city’s prestigious Opera Ball every year. Geri Halliwell, Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra have earlier been his Valentine’s guest.
The Austrian Press Agency reported that the chaos was planned by a communist youth organization. Paris said that being pelted was “no big deal” and she still loved her fans.
